Steampunk Symposium Shoulder Detail: How To

Bella used a strip of faux leather as the base for the shoulder epaulettes.  Under the faux leather is a piece of thin cardboard glued to the fabric piece using fabric glue.  The cardboard is cut slightly smaller.  That left an edge of the faux leather for sewing.  She used a few stitches to hold the faux leather piece in place.  Then, sewed a tighter stitch when sewing the fringe on.

I found these little bits at Archivers this weekend.  Not sure how I will use them yet...maybe on a badge...?
How would you use them?

Dyeing Lace & Trim

Prissy couldn't find the right color of trim for her costume.  So, she bought white trim and used a scrapbook product, called Glimmer Mist, to change the color.  She also added boiling water and 3 Tablespoons of white vinegar.  It's just like dyeing Easter eggs.

Dress Re-Do

Bella is busy sketching a new design to rework a prom formal.  Trying to make it look more Victorian without adding tons of weight.  Here's the 1st rough draft showing the back of the dress.
